Elizabeth Blackwell was the first woman doctor, but it didn't happen overnight or without a struggle. It took many attempts before Geneva Medical College in New York agreed to allow her to attend the college in 1840 in what they thought would be a funny joke. The joke was on them as they hadn't realized how seriously Elizabeth was about becoming a doctor no matter what the cost. This book details her many struggles and ultimately her triumphs as she turned the medical profession upside down.
