In 1947, Jackie Robinson joined the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was the first and only African American on his team and in the major leagues. Jackie Robinson changed sports history and the perceptions held by many about which players belonged on the field. Jackie was not only a baseball hero, he was a civil rights hero as well.
